Hello there, all you ghoulish crafters!  Do you love Halloween? The costumes, decorations, and can't forget the candy... we love it all!  We have this fantastic Halloween layout by Sandy on the blog today:

First of all, what an awesome photo, Sandy!  Her photo is highlighted with great matting.  Using a patterned paper that is similar in colouring to her background, she separated the two patterns with black cardstock.  That bit of solid colour in-between helps separate and calm down the busy patterns. Who says that the Tim Holtz Holiday Greens die (Sizzix 658759) has to be used just for Christmas!  Sandy used black cardstock and her BoBunny Glitter paste to create some Halloween foliage.  Now there is even a Mini Holiday Greens (661597) for those smaller projects or spaces.  I think we all loved cutting out those caskets from BoBunny's paper.  Fantastic layout, Sandy!

For those of you who take Halloween photos, here's a few suggestions for those layouts:

The house decorated for Halloween
The family in their costumes
Carving of the pumpkin & the finished masterpiece
The spookiest houses on your halloween travels
The candy loot at the end of the night

Any more ideas?  We'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day,

Hello there!  Are you still creating for Halloween?  Are you like the rest of us crafters, and still pinning ideas and have plans to recreate those right up to the last minute?  We still have some October layouts to share helping you with those last minute spooky projects. Today we have Susan's layout on the blog:

Those spiderwebs clustered around her matted photo are hand cut from her patterned paper.  By using different sizes of webs and tucking some behind layers of mats, she has created more dimension to her layout.  Sequins are popular right now and Susan has applied hers to a piece of patterned paper, adding to the pattern. Just a dot of Glossy Accents or any liquid glue makes adhering these easy.
Those adorable girls of hers seem quite interested in their ghostly friend!  Awesome layout, Susan!

Happy Friday!

Kelly's Korner - Have scrapbook skills, will travel.

Hello dear crafty friends!

I trust things are going well and time spent in your craft zone has been fruitful. I'm all about the fruit these past couple of weeks. Infact, I'm practically the fruitiest scrapper I know. When in Rome.....

Yep, things are a bit banana's! LOL. Team Urban has been going peddle-to-the-metal this month.  Most exciting?! After a successful September launch by Lynette and Krista, The Urban Scrapbook Monthly Kit Club for October was a big hit. Talented Karen Hach has also designed a number of super cute pages for the Documented Kit.  Same cute scrapbook collection from Simple Stories but it also includes 12 x 12 pocket pages.  You don't have to miss out if you're not in Edmonton. We'd be happy to post it to you, please call the store for details.

Then there's our upcoming Urban Girl Calendar Kit 2017.  That's coming together brilliantly! Just for you, here's a wee sneak peak.

Keep your eyes and ears open for that announcement, they are always snapped up quickly. Why?! Because you get a dozen, 12 x 12 layouts designed by the Urban Team along with everything to make your pages super artful and fun.

Big thanks go out to our fabulous customers that took interest in the premier evening of  our Mini Technique Club last Thursday. Yours truly demo'd Ken Oliver Color Burst and Liquid Metals on YOPO paper and Watercolour paper. I had lots of fun and hope those attending did too. See you next month for more techniques.

Oh hey! Remember my post about Pocket Letters?  I was thrilled to connect with Marie Friant from Belgium. Her letter to me included a plethora of wonderful die cuts and other treasures. Of course I couldn't wait to use them.

I created this mixed media layout with the Rossibelle collection by Prima, Tim's Distress Inks and Carta Bella's new Plaid 6 x 6 stencil. I had a ball playing with it all. I incorporated the Rossibelle Collection that I made my Pocket Letter with earlier.

I just love, when playing with paints and inks, you get the perfect splatter. This little camera is a rubber stamp I received from Marie, cute right? I also used the circle dies Marie sent to fashion little dream catchers on my layout.

My Automne Rever (Autumn Dream) layout was a vision in shades of pinks, amber and plum and I must admit, it's wonderful to scrap with lovely little french ephemera. Thanks so much Marie!

All the art products and paper collection I used, is available at the store. If you have any questions, drop me a note below.

What's coming up?! Urban Art Journal, Urban Art Bar-Paint Night and the Halloween Crop. All the details are on our Facebook and Instagram, or we'll be happy to chat you up at the store. Wait, did you hear that?  Did something go bump?

Lovely of you to come by, Cheers!

Hi everyone!  Today we have Jan's October layout on the blog today:

Jan has used her BoBunny glitter paste with Tim Holtz stencils and applied it all along the edge of her yellow cardstock. For interest, she cut out a frame from her spiderweb patterned paper and before adhering to her page, painted a black frame slightly larger on her cardstock. That creepy branch is paper die cut from Tim Holtz Twisted Edge Thinlits die(661589).  Spooky layout, Jan!

Hello everyone!  We are continuing with our Halloween monthly layouts  today.... even though it looks like the middle of December outside. We were not expecting that much snow! It's Krista's layout on the blog today:

We love how Krista tucked her matted layout (trimmed down slightly smaller than 12x12) into the "Dreadful" patterned paper corners.  There are spiderwebs in each corner, which she cut an opening to allow her to tuck in her layout.  The added machine stitching around the edges finishes off her edging.  The Bobunny Glitter paste that is included in each kit, was applied with Tim Holtz stencil Splattered (TH009).  Turning any of your trimmed pieces of paper into a pocket for a journaling tag is a great way to add in extra journaling without taking up space used for more photos or embellishments.  Fantastic layout, Krista!

KELLY'S KORNER - Countdown to Halloween

Knock Knock! Who's there? Ivana!! Ivana who?
Ivana go to Urban !!!

(source Bitstrip)

Actually, Ve vant we would love you to come to our annual Halloween Crop !!

We'll be dressing up to scare youhorrify you,  make you laugh.  Last year was lots of fun!

There's ghoulish projects popping up all over Urban. Including a crazy witch that got stuck in our ceiling!

I think she might have been texting when it happened!

With so many cute Halloween collections in the store, it was hard to pick just one. Well, here's a layout by yours truly. I used Authentique paper and included some favorite snips from an ADORNit colouring page for Halloween. I also used a round ADORNit frame, cut into thirds, to highlight the space under the chipboard mask.

I like her funny little hat, with a bat, what do you think about that?
(As Dr Seuss might have asked, ha!)

Actually, the entire background paper was coloured to totally make it my own. It's super easy! If you have any colouring tools, you too can personalize your layouts. You can match it to your ribbon, buttons, photo's or like me, another coloring sheet.

Oh! Hey! There's also still time to join Heather's class for some Halloween fun. Check out these super cute treat boxes you'll whip up!

So fly on in to Urban Scrapbook for a ton of inspiration and fun this month!

Speaking of inspirations, please join me, Kelly from the Korner, tonight from 6:30 to 7:30.  I'll be hosting our premier, 'Mini Technique Club'.  I'll be showing club members how to use the latest products to make their artful projects shine.  Our first night features techniques using Color Burst by Ken Oliver.

Come on by!

Merry Christmas!  No wait a minute here, it's still October, right?  Someone should tell Mother Nature, 'cause it's snowing here. Let's hope it's not here to stay, because  I don't think any of us here in Alberta want it this soon.  To take your mind off the snow, here's another October layout, this one is done by Heather:

Heather created a border across her page, using the coffin patterned paper.  On the left side she used her Tim Holtz Halloween Block Thinlits dies (660956) to create a stencil, then inked and embossed her words.  There are three of these dies included in each kit.  Her lace die-cuts were created with cardstock and Tim Holtz Lace Border Thinlits die set (661499).  Don't you love those jars?  Some are cut out from patterned paper and there are a few coordinating chipboard ones.  Fantastic layout, Heather!

Heather is a new instructor here at Urban, so stayed tuned for some amazing card classes.  Right now she has a Halloween Treat Box class (details on previous post) coming up, perfect for those special little ones (or big ones) you like to give a little extra something at Halloween.

Reminder:  Thanksgiving Weekend - Holiday Monday hours 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

At this time of Thanksgiving, we send you our warmest wishes and our appreciation for your patronage.  May this day be a beautiful reminder of the wonderful things in life!

Hello  there!  We have Laurie's October layout(s) on the blog today:

Laurie was ambitious and created two layouts this month!  Two very similar layouts but each with it's own story.   Her coffins have all been hand cut from one sheet of patterned paper.  Love her gnarly branches which were die-cut from Sizzix's Tim Holtz Twisted Edge Thinlits Die (661589).

Laurie is a big "Walking Dead" fan, so for those of you who also love this T.V. show, you will know what this layout is all about.  She had to explain it to us non-followers! lol!  Love this different combination of colours that BoBunny used for their Halloween line.  The dark wine colour goes really well with the yellow.  Laurie has taken her wine coloured cardstock and created her own faded pattern with stencils and ink, then added a few pieces of her pattern paper that was used on the other layout.  When doing a double layout, this gives a nice flow between the two pieces.  Awesome layout, Laurie!

New Classes.......
